- Fiction Writing

Since 1993, the Fiction
Writers Group has been meeting on a monthly basis. Members
meet to critique short stories, postcard fiction and other prose
writings. Three fiction anthologies have resulted from these
sessions: Work in Progress, 1995, Point of Departure,
1997, and Rites of Passage, 1999. Members often workshop
their short stories for submission to various markets and contests
such as Ten Stories High - our long-running branch fiction
contest. |

Memoir Writing
|
The Memoir
Writers Group discusses the art of memoir writing and welcomes
writers to share their memoir projects. Members help one another
to identify strengths and areas for improvement in their manuscripts.
Please note that Memoir Writers Group meetings take place on
the first Wednesday of each month in the Mills Room of the St.
Catharines Library - prior to our regular branch meetings. |

- Poetry Writing
-
|
The Poetry
Writers Group gathers monthly to share each others
poetry and discuss current market trends. Poets bring several
copies of their poetry for the group to critique. In many cases,
our members have gone on to develop book projects with one another
or submit their work to The Saving Bannister - our ongoing
poetry anthology contest. |

- Novel Writing
-
|
The Writers
of Novels Group meets weekly at a local coffee shop to discuss
and critique their novels-in-progress. (Chapters or short samples
are emailed to the group prior to each meeting.) Every few months,
members can also re-submit a larger section of their manuscript
to the group for further review. It's a great way to keep your
book running like a well-oiled machine! |
